According to Gohar Ali Khan, the chairman of the PTI, the draft constitutional amendment that was approved by the parliamentary special committee was the same one that his party and Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of the JUI-F, had agreed upon.
After visiting Fazl in Islamabad on Friday, he told reporters, “The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is nearing a consensus with the JUI-F.” The party plans to submit a draft to its founder, Imran Khan, for his approval, he continued.
The special parliamentary committee has unanimously approved the text of the constitutional package, according to Syed Khursheed Shah, the committee’s head, earlier in the day.
The document has been forwarded to the federal cabinet for approval, according to the senior PPP leader.
