The regulator fined Central Power Generation Company Ltd. (CPGCL) Rs50 million in its order for charging more than Rs1.24 billion in its rate for a gas booster that it had received from Engro Corp for free, without providing the full picture.
The regulator also discovered that the two other state-owned companies under the Power Division, Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) and National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC), had signed operating procedure manuals and black start procedures with twelve power producers following the nationwide power outage in January 2021 in violation of rules and regulatory orders. The regulator issued show-cause notices to both companies and threatened to fine them up to Rs200 million.
