According to his company, Adar Poonawalla’s Serene Production would invest 10 billion rupees ($119 million; £91.3 million) in Dharmatic Entertainment and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.
During the epidemic, Poonawalla also led the Serum Institute of India (SII), which manufactured millions of Covid-19 vaccines for India and numerous other nations, making it the largest vaccine manufacturer in the world by quantity of doses.
At a time when Bollywood is fighting to recover from difficult times since the Covid-19 outbreak closed theaters, Poonawalla’s investment in the entertainment industry is a noteworthy step.
Numerous domestic and international streaming services in India are also posing a threat to the industry.

One of India’s leading producers and directors, Johar is well-known for his hit television series. His production company has been in business for four decades and has produced well-known films like Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which starred Shah Rukh Khan.
However, a large number of the production company’s films have not been well received at the box office in recent years.
