The Harry Potter author revealed this after Kemi Badenoch, a Tory leadership candidate, praised Rowling for her contributions to the transgender issue and declared she would grant her a peerage.

“Under Labour and the Conservatives, I have previously declined a peerage twice.
As a vocal voice in the gender discussion, Rowling has often called for the protection of spaces for biological women and raised concerns about transgender difficulties in the sports business.
The Cass review into NHS children’s gender identity services, which resulted in NHS England ceasing to prescribe puberty blockers to children with gender dysphoria, was welcomed by the author and others.
Ms. Badenoch claimed that Rowling and Dr. Hilary Cass, the author of the Cass review, were “attacked relentlessly by all sorts of oddballs and bad people” on the Talk streaming service.
The question of whether the Conservative MP would grant Rowling a peerage was then posed.
