Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar responded to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) declaration that it would contest the recently passed 26th Constitutional Amendment by stating that a two-thirds majority in parliament makes an amendment unchallengeable in any court.
The minister stated on the Geo News show “Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath” that Article 239 of the Pakistani Constitution gives Parliament the authority to change the document or enact laws with a two-thirds majority.
“Its clause 5 makes it very evident that the amendments to the Pakistani Constitution cannot be contested in any court,” Tarar stated.
“No amendment of the Constitution shall be called into question in any court on any ground whatsoever,” according to clause 5 of Article 239.
