The former Home Office minister hinted that all of the previous administration’s top government officials didn’t believe the plans to transport asylum seekers to Kigali would succeed in an interview with Politics Hub With Sophy Ridge.
At the end of 2023, Mr. Jenrick resigned from Rishi Sunak’s government, citing his belief that the goals fell short.

“I had a choice at the time: take a bill through parliament which I knew didn’t work and which, frankly, everyone in cabinet knew didn’t work; or leave the government,” Mr. Jenrick said in an interview with Sky News about his decision to leave the government.

He responded, “I think everybody involved in that decision knew perfectly well that that policy was not going to succeed, but they turned a blind eye to it,” when asked if he believed that all of the cabinet members, including the prime minister, home secretary, and all senior ministers, believed the Rwanda Bill would fail.
