KARACHI: In reference to the 27th Constitutional Amendment, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) said it is in communication with federal government authorities.
Farooq Sattar, the leader of the MQM-P, told Geo News on Tuesday, “We discussed this with Prime Minister [Shehbaz Sharif] in our meeting, and he assured us that the local bodies clause would be included in the next constitutional amendment.”
The senior deputy convener of the MQM-P, Sattar, admitted that although discussions are still going on, there is no clear date for when the amendment would be presented to parliament.
Despite suggestions of possible revisions, the government led by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has not confirmed any plans to revise the Constitution further following the 26th amendment. The government and its supporters adopted constitutional amendments earlier this month.
