NEW YORK/LONDON: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has stated that he was persuaded to buy Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and rename it “Air Punjab” by his daughter, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
“Maryam stated that we ought to purchase PIA and rename it ‘Air Punjab’ once we have made it the top airline,” Nawaz stated while speaking to party members in New York.
Speaking to the Pakistani community in New York, President Nawaz of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) said that Maryam, the chief minister of Punjab, advised him to purchase the national flag carrier.
He said he suggested to Maryam that she launch a new airline that would fly to places all over the world. “I think that this has been discussed.”
