LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: On Sunday, Abdul Aleem Khan, the Federal Minister for Privatization, declared that the government would definitely privatize the Pakistan International Airline (PIA), but in a “better way.”
Aleem stated during a press conference that he was required by law to carry out the privatization process, according to The News.
He said that the national flag carrier’s privatization process had already begun before he assumed leadership of the ministry’s office and that he had no authority to change the framework because it had already been decided.
The federal minister asserted that the PIA, a national asset, could still be made viable today with better rules and the right amount of money. He said that the government couldn’t privatize it for a reasonable price.
