With an air quality index (AQI) of 382 on Monday, Lahore came in second on the list of the world’s most polluted cities. Despite efforts to reduce pollution, the Punjab city continues to be covered in thick smog.
According to data from IQAir, the Swiss air quality monitor, the AQI, which measures a variety of pollutants, surpassed 1,000 to reach a “unprecedented” 1,194 in the nation’s second-largest city on Sunday. This is significantly higher than the limit of 300 that is deemed “dangerous.”
Around 9:30 am, the concentration of lethal PM2.5 pollutants, or small particulate matter in the air that causes the most health harm, was 266. This is 53.2 times more than the limit that the World Health Organization (WHO) considers tolerable.
