The Africa Cricket Association (ACA) has confirmed that the Afro-Asia Cup, a series of white-ball matches between Asia XI and Africa XI, will soon return.
The competition has only been staged twice, in 2005 and 2007, respectively. After a rain-soaked final game in 2005, the three-match ODI series was split 1-1; however, in 2007, the Asia XI won all three games.
The third iteration was eventually canceled, although it was originally scheduled to take place in Kenya in 2009. Nonetheless, there is a chance that the event will finally return after over 20 years.
A six-member interim committee was established during the ACA’s annual general meeting with the dual goals of modernizing the organization and expanding the playing field for players around the continent.
