KARACHI: At the oldest Boston Marathon in the world, two Pakistani runners, Faisal Shafi and Danish Elahi, created history by setting a record for the quickest time in the event while donning traditional shalwar kameez.
The two Karachi natives finished the marathon in three hours and twenty-six minutes, the first time a runner in Pakistan’s baggy national uniform has finished the 26.2-mile event in less than four hours.
Shafi and Elahi, who started and finished the run together, said their accomplishment was an homage to their nation.
In an exclusive interview with News, Elahi stated, “This record is dedicated to all of Pakistan.” “It’s really unforgettable to set a record in a historic race like Boston.”
