NEW YORK: On Thursday, aviation startup Archer announced a partnership with United Airlines for an air taxi that it claims could eventually enable passengers in New York City to get to nearby airports in 15 minutes or less.
To commemorate the announcement, Archer brought a prototype of its Midnight aircraft to the Big Apple on Thursday.
The US Federal Aviation Administration, which still needs to verify the electrically powered vehicle, will decide when exactly the service will be accessible to New Yorkers.
“I don’t think anybody is excited to go sit in a car for 90 minutes to travel 15 miles,” said Adam Goldstein, CEO of Archer, in reference to the infamous gridlock in New York.
