After MPs expressed worries about journalists recording their interviews and statements without their permission and sharing them on social media, the National Assembly Secretariat implemented a prohibition on video recording within Parliament House.
Following assembly sessions and standing committee meetings on a range of domestic and global subjects, working journalists frequently ask Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) for their opinions and document these exchanges on their cell phones in the hallways.
They usually ask pointed or difficult questions that might not be in line with the interests of the parties in power. Journalists distribute this content on social media in addition to using it for mainstream media.
