ISLAMABAD: In a case concerning his claims that President Asif Ali Zardari conspired to kill former Prime Minister Imran Khan, former Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed was found not guilty by a District and Sessions Court in the nation’s capital.
On Friday, Judicial Magistrate Yasir Mahmood declared the reserved verdict on Rashid’s plea of acquittal.
Rashid thanked the reporters outside the courthouse: “With Allah’s help, I have been acquitted today, though 14 terrorism cases still remain.”
In 2023, Rashid was charged with conspiracy and incitement in a case brought before the Aabpara Police Station in Islamabad.
The district and sessions court in Islamabad reserved its judgment on his request for acquittal yesterday.
