Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his former Defense Minister, and a Hamas military leader are all wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for war crimes.
According to a court statement released on Thursday, Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant were charged with “crimes against humanity and war crimes committed from at least 8 October 2023 until at least 20 May 2024.”
Gallant and Netanyahu “intentionally and knowingly deprived the civilian population in Gaza of objects indispensable to their survival, including food, water, medicine and medical supplies, as well as fuel and electricity,” the report stated, citing “reasonable grounds” for suspicion.
According to a statement from Netanyahu’s office, “Israel rejects with disgust the absurd and false actions leveled against it.”
