Simone White, a British barrister who died in Laos from suspected poisoning, was “devastated” by the “terrible tragedy,” according to her parents.
After consuming alcohol that may have been spiked with methanol in the popular backpacking destination Vang Vieng, Ms. White, from Orpington, south-east London, passed away in the hospital.
Six tourists, including the 28-year-old, perished after visiting the well-known tourist destination.
“Simone was unique and had the most amazing energy and spark for life,” her parents stated in a statement.
“She was a soul who gave so much to so many and was loved by her family, friends, and colleagues.”
They said that their daughter had been “taken way too young” and that her brother will “sorely miss her.
