Iran declared on Friday that it was turning on new, sophisticated centrifuges that enrich uranium for the nation’s nuclear program in response to criticism from the UN nuclear watchdog for the country’s lack of cooperation.
According to a joint statement from Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization and foreign ministry, Iran will turn on “a noticeable number of new and advanced centrifuges of different types,” according to state news agency IRNA.
In keeping with national necessities and Iran’s rights, the statement stated that “steps are being taken to protect the country’s interests and further develop the peaceful nuclear energy,” according to IRNA.
