MWM protesters holding sit-ins in Karachi are warned by the minister to move to the designated area or face consequences.

"We cannot allow unrest in the city and sit idly by," Zia Lanjar says, adding that the government must establish its writ regardless.

KARACHI: As the sit-ins against the Parachinar crisis entered their ninth day, the Sindh government on Wednesday made a “final offer” to the protesting religio-political party to relocate to a designated location or face action, following clashes between police and Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) protesters in various locations throughout the city the previous day.

“The government will establish its writ in any case […] we cannot allow unrest in the city,” Zia Lanjar, the home minister of Sindh, stated at a press conference with Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon.

The MWM’s central sit-in at Numaish, where party activists have been staging the demonstration since December 24 to show support for the people of Parachinar and Kurram Agency, was broken up by the authorities a day earlier.
