ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Ataullah Tarar has stated that the £190 million corruption case against former Prime Minister Imran Khan was an “open-and-shut case” with a merit-based conviction.

After three delays, an accountability court in Islamabad declared the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and his wife, Bushra Bibi, guilty in the £190 million case.

Judge Nasir Javed Rana of the Accountability Court sentenced the PTI founder to 14 years in prison and his wife to seven years in prison. They were also fined heavily.

In addition to his wife receiving a sentence of Rs 0.5 million, the PTI founder will be required to pay a fine of Rs 1 million.
