LAHORE: According to Aleema Khan, Imran Khan’s sister, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), laughed while hearing the verdict against him in the £190 million corruption case on Saturday.
She told reporters outside a Lahore court, “The PTI founder laughed when he heard the verdict. We have trusted Allah with our situation,” the news said.
The ousted prime minister was sentenced to 14 years in prison on Friday after an accountability court found Imran and his wife Bushra Bibi guilty in the £190 million case, also known as the Al-Qadir Trust case.
The 72-year-old Imran has been detained since August 2023 on charges related to almost 200 cases, but his party says the most recent conviction was intended to coerce him into leaving politics.
