LAHORE: The Punjab School Education Department has made history by adding additional subject groups to the matriculation exams, giving pupils more options outside of the conventional scientific and arts streams.
Khalid Naeem Wattoo, Punjab’s secretary of school education, declared that pupils can now choose among courses in entrepreneurship, computer technology (IT), agriculture, and health sciences.
With this effort, Pakistan’s educational system will undergo a major makeover for the first time in 70 years. The new organizations want to give students more options that are career-oriented and practical while also bringing the curriculum into line with worldwide standards.
“We’ve added four new groups: health sciences, fashion design, IT, and agriculture. Practical instruction will be given to students, who will receive 40 points for practicals and 30 points for theory.
