LAHORE: In the Punjab MPAs’ disqualification dispute, the government and opposition committees concluded their discussions on Sunday without reaching a consensus, but they decided to carry on with further talks in the hopes of breaking the impasse.
The meeting of the government and opposition committees was presided over by Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, however there is still no consensus between the two parties.
The speaker filed a disqualification reference against 26 MPAs with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) last week due to noise, screaming, sloganeering, and document tearing during the budget session.
Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar, the opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly, told reporters after today’s meeting that the talks would go on until a compromise was reached.
