ISLAMABAD According to sources who spoke to Geo News on Sunday, the federal government has chosen to turn the Frontier Constabulary (FC) into a “nationwide federal force” that will function in every province and territory.
The Frontier Constabulary Act of 1915 gives the federal government authority over the FC. For better security and administration, the force, which has its headquarters in Peshawar and is commanded by a senior police officer with BS-21 rank, can be sent anywhere in Pakistan.
Sources claim that the redesigned force will be known as the “Federal Constabulary” and will have the authority to operate in all provinces, including Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the sources, changes to the Frontier Constabulary Act of 1915 will formalize this change.
