The head psychiatrist for Ukraine’s army has been imprisoned on “illegal enrichment” accusations pertaining to almost $1 million (£813,000) in revenues since the beginning of Russia’s invasion in February 2022.
According to a statement from the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the man served on a committee that determined a person’s suitability for military duty.
Although he was not named in the SBU statement, Oleh Druz was previously recognized as the top psychiatrist for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to the SBU, he had two plots of land, three residences in or close to Kyiv, one in Odesa, and a number of luxury BMW vehicles. Investigators investigating his home reportedly discovered $152,000 (£124,000) and €34,000 in cash.
