Kylian Mbappe, a striker for Real Madrid, claims that a “mentality issue” kept him from performing at his peak earlier in the season.
The 26-year-old France captain left Paris St-Germain last June to sign a free transfer to Real Madrid.
However, he had a difficult time in the first few months after his transfer, at one point only managing three goals in 11 games.
During that period, Madrid lost both games, missing penalties against Athletic Bilbao in La Liga and Liverpool in the Champions League.
Despite feeling at “rock bottom” following those misses, Mbappe claims that a change in perspective has allowed him to score four goals in his last three games.
“I believe it was a mentality issue and that was a point I realised that I had to work harder,” Mbappe remarked.
