ISLAMABAD: According to Barrister Gohar, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), his party cannot hold talks with the government for the sole purpose of “photo sessions” until a commission is established.
He disclosed to the reporters on Saturday outside the Judicial Complex that PTI had given the government seven days to declare if a panel would be formed.
“The government’s inaction clearly indicates they lack the intent to form it,” Gohar said, adding that the commission was supposed to decide on the terms of reference (TORs) and the inclusion of judges.
Gohar bemoaned the “injustices” that the PTI had to deal with, claiming that their mandate had been stolen and citing instances of the party being subjected to disproportionate legal action, including charges of terrorism against a number of its attorneys.
