The provinces of Sindh and Punjab are at odds over higher tolls on national routes, which are now classified as motorways. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senator Muhammad Aslam Abro has voiced grave concerns about the renaming of national routes as motorways, which will result in much higher tolls.
The situation has grown, with the Sindh Chief Minister, National Assembly members, and PPP senators voicing strong opposition. In particular, Senator Abro denounced the toll tax hikes, saying they were unjust to Sindh. He declared that Jacobabad’s citizens would soon register their complaints by holding a protest.
Senator Abro claimed that billions of rupees are being collected from motorway toll fees, highlighting the significant money gained from these levies.
