According to the US Commerce Department, the economy grew at an annual pace of 2.3% from October to December, compared to 3.1% over the preceding three months.
Despite being driven by strong consumer spending growth, the pace was slower than economists had predicted.
The statistics are released as US President Donald Trump demands a change in policy, raising concerns about the future of the largest economy in the world.
He may outline his ideas this week, which include imposing trade tariffs and making significant cuts to government expenditure.
Although analysts said specifics of the Commerce Department data suggested growth remained steady, the US economy was expected to grow at a rate of about 2.5 percent in the latter three months of 2024.
