ISLAMABAD: The Inland Revenue Service Officers Association (IRSOA) has strongly refuted Senator Faisal Vawda’s “unsubstantiated” allegations that he received threats from Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officials.
“The claims that three FBR officers issued death threats over the procurement of official vehicles are entirely baseless and represent a reckless attempt to tarnish the reputation of civil servants dedicated to national service,” the association stated in a statement released on Thursday.
During a Senate Standing Committee on Finance hearing that same day, Vawda said that three FBR personnel had threatened his life because he had objected to a “untransparent” proposal for the nation’s tax body to purchase a large number of vehicles.
Earlier, the FBR had declared that 1,010 new cars would be purchased.
