Cate Blanchett claims that Hollywood never really adopted the Me Too movement.
Seven years after disclosing that producer Harvey Weinstein had sexually assaulted her, Cate is pointing out the steps taken by the industry to safeguard women.
She told NET-A-PORTER’S digital title PORTER, “Everyone talks about the #MeToo movement as if it’s well and truly over, and I think well, it didn’t really ever take root, to be honest.”
The voices that were just starting to emerge from beneath the floorboards were being targeted for dismantling and discrediting. The fact that it hasn’t taken root bothers me a lot,” she continued.
It has to do with scaffolding. It concerns the visibility and audibility of those objects.
