Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), called for new elections in the nation on Tuesday, calling the general elections held on February 8, 2024, “rigged.”
Following a dinner hosted by PTI senior leader and former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser, the JUI-F president made the comments. At the meal, opposition party leaders gathered, including Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, the leader of the Awam Pakistan party.
Fazl, who was instrumental in the removal of former Prime Minister Imran Khan from office in April 2023 through a no-confidence motion, told reporters after the meeting that the PML-N-led government need to resign and call new elections.
