India’s speed star Jasprit Bumrah had a lower back injury during the final Test match against Australia in Sydney last month, which has severely hurt him and forced him out of the team for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement that pacer Harshit Rana has been selected by the selection committee to replace Bumrah.
Having already missed the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia because of a back issue that required surgery, this is the second ICC tournament that Bumrah will miss owing to injury.
Furthermore, India replaced Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was initially a member of the provisional roster, with spinner Varun Chakaravarthy in the squad.
