ISLAMABAD According to The News on Saturday, the government has modified current legislation to tighten the noose and handle a number of concerns related to both important issues in the wake of an increase in migrant boat capsizing occurrences and recent reports of Pakistanis engaging in international begging.
The Prevention of Trafficking in Persons (Amendment), Prevention of Smuggling of Migrants (Amendment), and Emigration (Amendment) bills, which were introduced by Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, were unanimously approved by the Senate on Friday.
The relevant House standing committee has already approved the proposed legislation, which will also aid in preventing the smuggling of young females into the Gulf States for prostitution and as beggars.
