ISLAMABAD: Rana Sanaullah, the Prime Minister’s adviser on political and public affairs, stated on Saturday that the protests by nationalist groups in Sindh were politically driven and intended to harm the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), rather than being against the construction of canals.
“The PPP must speak with complete responsibility because it is a part of the government.” “The PML-N leader stated on the news program ‘Pakistan’ that the water issue is too delicate to be used for political point-scoring.”
His remarks were made the day after PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari threatened to split his party from the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) alliance if the federal government did not allay its concerns about the contentious canals project.
