ISLAMABAD: Senior attorney Akhtar Hussain of the Supreme Court has resigned from his membership in the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP), citing issues with the appointment procedure for judges as the cause.
He voiced his worries about judicial selection problems when he offered his resignation to Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, the JCP chairman.
“The Pakistan Bar Council unanimously nominated me thrice as a member of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan… and I continued to discharge my responsibilities to the best of my abilities,” Hussain wrote in his letter of resignation after receiving three nominations from the PBC.
