SUKKUR: Lawyers in Sindh declared on Tuesday that all sit-ins would halt, with the exception of the Baberlo Bypass in Khairpur, after the Council of Common Interests (CCI) decisively rejected the contentious new canals project from the Indus River.
As soon as it was announced that the federal government’s intention to build new canals had been revoked, celebrations began at Baberlo bypass, where a sit-in had entered its 12th day, according to Geo News. Protesters were ecstatic and hailed it as a win for Sindh’s fortitude and solidarity.
The All Sindh Lawyers Action Committee declared the cancellation of all more sit-ins throughout the province.
