Sister Inah Canabarro Lucas, a Brazilian nun, was the oldest person in the world when she passed away at the age of 116.
Inah Canabarro Lucas was born on June 8, 1908, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil. In her early twenties, she became a Catholic nun.
According to her family, she always had a cake shaped like the stadium of her favorite football team, Sport Club Internacional, in honor of her birthday.
“He [God] is the secret to life,” said Sister Inah, who was blessed by Pope Francis in 2018, attributing her longevity to her faith. The 115-year-old Ethel Caterham of Surrey, England, will soon become the oldest living person.
