ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan ruled that its previous ruling dated October 23, 2023, was invalid and reinstated the Pakistan Army Act in its original form.
With a 5-2 majority, the supreme court handed down the decision. Justices Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Jamal Khan Mandokhail dissented.
The Ministry of Defense and other parties’ appeals were granted by the court. Additionally, it reinstated the Army Act’s previously revoked provisions, namely Sections 2(1)(d)(i), 2(1)(d)(ii), and 59(4).
Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Aminuddin Khan, and Justice Musarrat Hilali made up the majority of the justices. The Supreme Court stated that a more thorough ruling would be rendered later.
