Ed Sheeran recently disclosed a “awkward” chat he had with Sir Elton John, his mentor.
The Shape of You singer acknowledged that the Rocket Man hitmaker, who is also his friend and mentor, has mispronounced his last name in the past.
During an open discussion with Capital Breakfast, the 34-year-old musician who had won an award was shown a video of Elton and referred to him as “Ed Shirr-ann.”
He laughed as he disclosed that Ed did ultimately attempt to rectify the legendary musician’s mispronunciation.
“I know, mate,” he responded, adding, “I’ve actually had the awkward conversation with him, being like, ‘I’ve known you for 15 years, it’s not Shirr-ann’, but it’s just one of those things.”
