SJC ‘rejects’ proposal to release names of judges cleared of complaints

Council considers 24 complaints — 19 dismissed, five deferred

According to people familiar with the matter, the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) has turned down a plan to release the identities of judges against whose complaints have been settled, as reported by News on Saturday.

According to an official statement, the SJC unanimously rejected 19 objections submitted by various parties under Article 209 of the Constitution and postponed five more for additional review.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Aalia Neelum, and Justice Junaid Ghaffar attended the two-hour meeting, which was presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi.

Yahya Afridi, the Chief Justice of Pakistan, presided over the meeting, which took place at the Supreme Court in Islamabad.
