KARACHI: The announcement of a truce between India and Pakistan by US President Donald Trump has sparked a strong reaction from India’s opposition leaders, who have expressed reservations about the Indian government’s diplomatic approach, strategy, and the role of a foreign leader in ending the conflict.
The effort was led by Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Indian National Congress and the head of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, who called for an immediate special session of the legislature, according to The News.
In his letter to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gandhi cited the recent Pahalgam terror event, Operation Sindoor, and the truce offered by Trump as matters that demand prompt attention.
