In an apparent attempt to feed rumors that Joe Biden’s cancer diagnosis was concealed, US President Donald Trump said on Monday that he was “surprised” the public was not informed sooner.
Trump told reporters, “I’m surprised that the public wasn’t notified a long time ago,” adding that it typically takes a “long time” for prostate cancer to progress to the serious stage that Biden’s office revealed on Sunday.
Trump claimed he was “saddened” by the news on Friday. Trump has often criticized Biden, his political foe, for his cognitive ability.
According to a statement from his office, the 82-year-old Democrat, whose son Beau Biden passed away from cancer in 2015, was given the diagnosis on Friday after experiencing symptoms related to his urine and discovering a prostate lesion.
