To demand justice for TikToker Sana Yousuf, who was brutally murdered in what campaigners are calling a blatant case of gender-based violence, a sizable demonstration was staged outside the Islamabad Press Club on Thursday.
A sizable crowd attended the demonstration, with human rights advocates, social workers, women, and men all showing solidarity. The participants chanted slogans and held placards, demanding that the offender be severely punished.
One demonstrator referred to media narratives that frequently place the blame for victims’ deaths on their online personas, saying, “Sana was not killed by TikTok, but by a toxic mindset and dangerous ideology.” Another said, “Is it a crime that she was killed because she refused to meet someone?”
