Calling the accusations “baseless and misleading,” Pakistan has adamantly maintained that it has not suspended nor terminated the historic Simla Agreement with India.
Despite media reports to the contrary, Pakistan confirmed in a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that no formal decision has been made to withdraw from the pact. The Foreign Office underlined that “Pakistan remains fully committed to the Simla Agreement.”
An important pillar of Pakistan-Indian bilateral relations for a long time has been the Simla Agreement, which was signed on July 2, 1972, in the Indian city of Simla in Himachal Pradesh.
