Following a fierce demonstration at the National Assembly during the address of Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday rejected the federal budget 2025–2026.
In addition to proposing relief measures for the salaried class and a 4.2% GDP growth objective, Aurangzeb earlier today unveiled the federal budget for fiscal year 2025–26, which totaled Rs17.57 trillion. At the same time, federal spending was cut by 7%.
“This is a fake government […] it lacks the power to present a budget,” the parliamentary committee of the opposition party claimed in a statement, which also described the planned budget as “influenced by the International Monetary Fund (IMF)”.
Additionally, the committee declared that the “IMF budget” would not be accepted.
