On Tuesday, Pakistan’s Human Rights Commission voiced “severe concern over the dismal conviction rate in 2024 cases of violence against women and children in the Punjab province.”
According to the HRCP, which cited press sources, out of the nearly 60,000 instances that were registered, only 924 suspects were found guilty.
The human rights organization added that over 2,300 individuals in cases involving violence against women and children were found not guilty, revealing serious shortcomings in police investigations and a lack of accountability.
