On Friday, in Mina, Saudi Arabia, Muslim pilgrims were carrying out the final hajj ceremony, which is the stoning of the devil.
In the Mina valley, which is outside of Makkah, more than 1.6 million pilgrims gathered stones and threw seven of them at each of the three concrete barriers that represent the devil.
Taking advantage of the cool weather, droves of pilgrims had already left their lodging in Mina’s expansive tent city before sunrise.
