In the midst of a uranium enrichment deadlock, Washington offered a proposal for a compromise, and Iran said that a fresh round of nuclear talks with the US is scheduled for Sunday.
The highest-level communication since President Donald Trump pulled Washington from a 2015 nuclear agreement during his first term has taken place during the five rounds of negotiations the longstanding rivals have held since April.
“The next round of Iran-US indirect talks is being planned for next Sunday in Muscat,” Esmaeil Baqaei, the spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, stated in a statement on Tuesday.
Baqaei pointed out that Iran’s Foreign Minister and Chief Negotiator Abbas Araghchi will be attending the Oslo Forum, a conference of conflict mediators in Norway, while Trump had previously stated that the meeting with Iran was anticipated on Thursday.
