WASHINGTON: When US Senator Alex Padilla attempted to ask a question during a tumultuous press conference on Thursday, security arrested him.
As Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was discussing immigration protests in Los Angeles, the Democratic lawmaker was shoved to the ground and taken out of the room.
“My name is Alex Padilla, a senator. At the news conference, where Noem was talking about rallies in Los Angeles against President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement, Padilla stated, “I have questions for the secretary.”
Padilla, 52, said, “Hands off,” and was led from the room.
In a statement, Padilla, a California resident, said that security had handcuffed him after forcing him to the ground.
